On Thursday, November 26, we’ll give thanks for family, friends, football, and turkey. On Black Friday, we’ll be grateful for countless deals on TVs, iPads, and video game consoles. On Cyber Monday, we’ll give thanks for online discounts on clothes and accessories. But on Tuesday, December 1, we’ll give back.
#GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back, and we’re issuing a diocesan-wide invitation to participate in #GivingTuesday to support the Bishop’s Appeal for Mission and Outreach appeal. Our goal is to find 200 new donors of any size gift.
Join us in this worldwide celebration of generosity as we provide meals for hungry children on weekends, shelter our unhoused neighbors from extreme temperatures, and send parishioners on mission trips to strengthen relationships with our Brothers and Sisters in Christ on the other side of the world.
Giving can be as simple as writing a check or donating online. It can be as meaningful as a nutritious meal for a family or improved sanitation for a community in Haiti.
Please join us in giving enthusiastically on December 1 and be part of the vital programs which come from God’s bounty that we as a community of faith are able to accomplish together.
The video below is a fun explanation of #GivingTuesday. Please note it is from last year and therefore says December 2 is Giving Tuesday. However, the 2015 date is December 1.
