In just a couple of days, we’ll be gathering in Reston for the 222nd Annual Convention of the Diocese. We are excited about the incredible agenda packed full of amazing opportunities to hear the stories of how our churches are sharing the love of Christ in their communities.

Preparations for Annual Convention take many months and along the way we’ve had a few thoughts come to mind that we thought we’d share with you:

We’re probably going to slip and call it Council at some point. You might accidentally do the same thing, too. Please be gentle when we correct one other.

There will be a robust social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Don’t be shy – tag us so we can share your Annual Convention stories. #walkinlove

We’re kinda hoping Bishop Shannon doesn’t call the hashtags a ‘sharp’ sign. Yep, he’s a music guy.

There will be a hot breakfast on Saturday. We’re very happy about this 🙂

Our beloved colleague and friend Millie Lofton isn’t with us this year and it makes us sad;(

Between sitting at different tables during the meetings, two workshop sessions to choose from, meals, worship and everything in between there is going to be plenty of opportunities to connect with folks from other churches and areas of the Diocese. #talktoyourneighbors

Are you preaching this Sunday, January 29th? Convention lectionary readings are those for January 29 – so take some of the reflections and energy from Bishop Wright’s homily back to your church!

And most of all – we’re excited to see you and Walk in Love!
